12/5/2024 Little Toto happily has found his new home in Hampshire. No doubt he will be very happy with the lovely couple who spotted him on the Oldies website.

Toto is a black and tan Yorkshire Terrier X. He is about 10 years old and is with Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, near Tring, Hertfordshire.
CDRS understand that little Toto has not had a happy life. On arrival he was very scared and underweight and had difficulty in trusting unfamiliar people. He has now come a long way but, after one false start, it is clear that Toto needs a very understanding owner who can offer a quiet home with the routine and security he craves.
Toto has formed some very positive bonds with staff he sees every day. He enjoys going into the office and watching the world go by from the safety of his crate. If his new owner was out of the house for a few hours, Toto would be fine to spend time alone, probably dreaming of his next walk. Toto enjoys 1 to 1 attention and is generally unfazed by most things. He is now happy to be handled and groomed by the people he has come to trust – a fairly major haircut was required but is now beginning to grow back.
Although generally calm and affectionate, Toto is not yet ready to be picked up and cuddled; it makes him quite anxious and is something he may never feel comfortable with. Despite his small size, Toto loves to go on long walks of up to an hour. He is much fitter and stronger and loves to be outdoors, exploring the woods or relaxing in the garden. It is when he is walking in the peace and quiet without any pressures, you can see that he is getting back to being a proper terrier.
Toto meets new dogs on a daily basis at the Rescue Centre and, provided they are not too excitable, is happy to walk with them. If there was already a calm dog in the home, potentially this could help Toto settle in, but he would also be suited to being the only pet. He would find children of any age very overwhelming.
Toto now weighs 4.5kg but could probably do with gaining just a little more. He is inoculated, microchipped and neutered. A very mild grade 1 heart murmur has been detected but requires no treatment at this time and certainly this does not inhibit his enjoyment of walks. There is some tartar on his teeth but not significant enough to warrant a dental at this time
Toto’s needs are basically quite straightforward – a quiet, adult household with an experienced owner with time and patience to build a relationship with him, plus a secure garden and regular walks.
Could you be the person he has been waiting a lifetime to meet?
