Sadly, adorable Wellington has been returned to CDRS. It is through no fault of his own; in fact, it sounds as though he has been the perfect dog but his adopter’s health did not permit him to provide the amount of exercise Wellington requires.

Once again, Wellington needs a new home with someone looking for an active older dog. He is in very good health and has enjoyed many trips out in the car to places of interest in the last six weeks. He has also spent lots of time with another family dog so could easily join a home with an existing dog for company. Please read on ….

Just how scrumptious is cuddly Wellington, a chocolate Cockapoo who lived very happily in his home for more than 8 years with three adults? Unfortunately, due to age and health reasons, there came a point where care could no longer be provided, so Wellington went into boarding kennels for three months before he was transferred to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society.

Wellington is 9 years old and he would love a new home with a secure garden to explore and laze in, toys to play with and country walks. He gets on well with other dogs but would be very tempted to chase cats. Although he is a more senior dog, Wellington is very fit and active and will require a minimum of one good walk each day.

Typical of the breed, Wellington is very people-orientated and although has been left a lot in recent months out of necessity, this does not really suit him as he loves being with people. His former owners describe Wellington as ‘happy go lucky’ and he is coming out of his shell at the Rescue Centre. CDRS staff are seeing more and more of this side of his personality every day. He has not lived with children and has limited experience of travelling by car but could come to really enjoy trips out.

Wellington was slightly underweight on arrival, perhaps due to the stress of the past few months. He is now eating well and will soon be back to optimum weight. He has had to have a broken tooth removed, but no other health issues have been detected. He is neutered.
