‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.

Please help Bailey by sharing this page!

Beautiful Bailey is a 7-year-old Lurcher boy in the care of Lurcher Link Rescue, waiting at their kennels near Halifax, West Yorkshire. He finds himself in this sad situation as his owner was no longer well enough to look after him. He is available either to adopt or foster, as Lurcher Link Rescue are keen for this old sweetie to have some home comforts again.

Bailey is a gentle and sensitive boy. He has lived with children before and could live with teenagers. He wants to be the only pet at home and to be walked where he won’t meet many other dogs. He’s OK if dogs keep their distance but gets quite anxious and reactive if they approach. He’d much rather avoid them. He walks in a Halti for maximum control but is generally calm and easy to walk.

Bailey is excellent in the home. He’s clean and can be left for a couple of hours once he’s settled in. He knows some commands, such as sit, down, wait, look and come (the latter does require a treat too). He needs very gentle handling at first but once he knows and trusts you, he’s relaxed about being handled.

Bailey is neutered and in good health. He does get extremely nervous at the vets. As long as your destination is anywhere else, he is great in the car and would love driving to lovely countryside walks!

If you’d like to apply to adopt or foster lovely Bailey, please fill in Lurcher Link Rescue’s online pre-adoption questionnaire.
