‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.
Please help Blue by sharing this page!
Beautiful Blue is a 9-year-old Siberian Husky in the care of Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool. He’s looking for a relaxing retirement home with grownups only and someone to keep him company most of the time.
Blue is very affectionate with those he knows but is shy with strangers. Once introduced, preferably away from his home, he does warm up to people. He is then happy for them to come round to the house and even gets quite giddy with glee, singing a little Husky hello song for people!
Blue wants to be the only pet at home but he does like to have walks with other dogs he’s got to know. He’s an avid snuffler and will want to thoroughly examine every smell he can find. He can be nervous in new places and situations so needs plenty of time to explore the smellscape.
Blue really does love human company and forms strong bonds with his people. Any time left alone needs to built up gradually. In the past, he has been known to throw cushions and knock over a bin in panic at being left. Hardly the worst crime but this does show what a sensitive soul he is and the need to work on his anxiety. Staff at the kennels say he has already come on a long way from the dog who they were unable to groom at first, to the relaxed and soppy boy who is now content to be gently brushed.
Blue is now on pain relief for a slightly sore back. It’s unknown the exact cause of the trouble as he’s had X-rays and they didn’t show anything wrong. As long as you’re aware of the issue and remember to be careful of his back end then he’s fine. He certainly will be grateful to have home comforts and central heating again when his new owner finds him!
