Dippy is a lovely 15 years old Crossbreed who came into Oldies Club care in January 2025 as her owner had unfortunately had to go into care.
When Dippy first arrived she seemed relatively calm and settled down for a snooze. She arrived with medication for warts. She has a few on her body and a rather noticeable one on her head. Her fosterer wanted to get her vet checked to make sure there wasn’t something more sinister going on. Thankfully the vets weren’t too concerned with them and didn’t believe they were cancerous. Unfortunately during her checkup they found that Dippy has a very slight heart murmur, kidney damage and liver failure. She was given a B12 injection to perk her up.
Due to her age and medical issues it was decided that Dippy would be placed in our sponsor dog scheme. This means she will remain in her lovely foster home on a permanent basis, with the charity paying her vet bills for the rest of her life.
Dippy settled into her foster home rather quickly and gets on well with the resident dogs. Her fosterer commented that Dippy is as quiet as a mouse but knows her own mind so has a stubborn streak.
Unfortunately Dippy was rather matted on arrival so an appointment was booked to take care of this. When she came back from the groomers she looked like a different dog. Dippy was a bit of a panicker and needed a fair bit of consoling by the groomer but she came back pure white and smelling lovely.
Since her arrival Dippy has been doing really well and she seems to have gained a little weight. She is enjoying her little walks and she is going a little further each week. She is taking a supplement which means she isn’t as stiff as she was when she first arrived and now moves more around freely.
Dippy enjoys being outside as much as possible and even the rain doesn’t perturb her. She is a big sniffer and likes to take her time when out on her walkies or when out in the garden.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Dippy, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
