Cute Quiggs was found as a stray at the end of last year when someone let this old dog on to the streets and didn’t care what happened to him. He wasn’t chipped and was not claimed. When he was found, he had a quite severe chest infection and he was matted and dirty. He’s now safely in the care of Forget-Me-Not Animal Rescue in mid Wales.
Quiggs is approximately 12 – 15 years old. It’s not known exactly what breed Quiggs is, but it’s believed that he is a mix of Lhasa Apso and another breed(s). He is a quiet old man who needs a safe garden to potter around in and two short walks on a lead during the day. He has very little vision during the day, but he can see at night a little when he goes out last thing if a torch is shone.
Quiggs does enjoy sniffing around outside during the day in a garden which must be a safe environment and also going on a couple of 20 minute walks. He is very slow on the lead but can have a spurt of energy when he trots for a short time. He is fine to be left for a short time and is good with dogs. It’s not known if he could live with children or cats.
Quiggs loves his bed, food and sleeping. He does have issues if you try and trim his nails or round his eyes as he had to have his fur trimmed really short, and this may have been done roughly and hurt him. He has tried to snap when the Rescue attempted to trim round his eyes and cut his nails, but 95% of the time he is a very easy dog to look after. His fur would need to be kept short for his welfare.
Quiggs isn’t neutered but this will be discussed with the vet to see if he is healthy enough to go through this surgery at his age. He has occasional accidents, but he knows that going outside in the garden several times a day and for short walks is when he should go to the toilet.
