Winnie (RSPCA Millbrook, Surrey)

Winnie is a very pretty 7-year-old Saluki girl who is with RSPCA Millbrook in Chobham, Surrey.

Her previous owners approached RSPCA Inspectors asking for help. They were not able to meet Winnie’s welfare needs and, due to there being several other pets in the house, Winnie was being kept in single room.

Winnie walks well on the lead but can pull a little when excited. She will need her own enclosed garden, with 5 ft fencing, where she can enjoy off-lead playtime. On walks she will need to be kept on lead. It would also be a good idea to rent a dog field so that she can have a good run and explore.

Winnie needs to be the only dog in her new home and ideally have no dogs visiting. She is not able to live with cats. Winnie can live with children of secondary school age.

On walks, she might bark at other dogs, due to lack of socialisation in her previous home. Her new family will need to continue her socialisation on walks, enabling her to gain confidence around calm and friendly dogs. It would be best for her not to be walked in areas where there are lots of dogs as this could make her anxious.

Winnie will need housetraining, so her new family must have the time and kindness to help her with this. She can be left for short periods and this can be increased slowly over time as she settles in and is housetrained.

Winnie is unsure of vacuum cleaners and mops, so her new family will need to be patient in introducing her to the sights and sounds of the home. She travels well in the car but may need refresher training with her new family.

Do you have the time, love and patience to devote to transforming Winnie into the wonderful dog that is just waiting to blossom?
