Peru - BCDH

October 2005 – Peru has been suffering from a serious condition affecting his spine and very sadly had to be put to sleep. Our thoughts are with his carers at Bath Cats & Dogs Home.

I’m Peru, a friendly and affectionate male Labrador cross. I have been at Bath Cats & Dogs Home (BCDH) for two years and am castrated. I suffer from nervous aggression and have gotten into a little bother in my past, but I’m sure you wouldn’t hold that against me if you knew my history.

I was brought to the Home after being found straying on the streets at the age of four years. I was in a sorry state – other dogs had picked on me whilst I was living rough and this led to me being nervous. Unfortunately, although I found new owners shortly after arriving at the Home it didn’t work out and I was returned.

I am now a seven years old and am very friendly and affectionate. It will take a while to get to know me but once I trust you I bond very quickly. I would love to live in a nice quiet home that doesn’t have too many visitors with plenty of open space – I love grassy spaces! I am quite calm normally but can be playful at times.

Our Chairman brought me a Tiger toy which is my favourite and I take it everywhere with me. When my carer puts my food down she doesn’t always put it where I want it, and she thinks it funny that I run round with the bowl in my mouth until I am happy that I have found the spot I fancy eating in. I am told I have a lovely nature but don’t show myself off very well here in the kennels as I don’t like other dogs and tend to bark at them, but that’s just the way I am.

I love going for walks and am brilliant on the lead, however, due to my past experiences with other dogs I would be terrified to be let off the lead in public spaces. I am looking for a new home with older teenagers but without other animals – I hope it is yours. If you are interested in me please speak to my Carer and the Home’s Management to learn more of my background.
