26 October 2011: We are very sad to have to let you know that Charming Charlie very sadly passed away today :( The vet believes poor Charlie was suffering from a tumour and sadly there was nothing more that could be done for him :( Our thoughts are with Charlie’s wonderful fosterers, who have taken such great care of Charlie for us. He will be missed. Sleep tight lovely boy.

Charming Charlie is a 10 year old Labrador x Collie who gets on well with cats, children and other dogs. He likes to enjoy himself walking, snoozing, eating and playing with his toys. He’ll quite happily share his toys with other dogs too and loves a good ball game!

Occasionally Charlie suffers from wobbly back legs when out on a walk, so has to lie down and have a quick rub down – he soon feels much better.

October 2009
Charlie has been diagnosed with CDRM (Canine degenerative myelopathy) – an untreatable degenerative condition. At the moment Charlie is still active and enjoying life, but over time he will suffer from loss of coordination in his back legs. We are not sure how long Charlie will have – it could be months or years.

Charlie will therefore stay in the care of the Oldies Club for the rest of his life, living at home with a foster carer who will look after him for as long as he can go on enjoying life. We very much hope that will be for a while yet. The Oldies Club will pay for all his vet bills.
