6/5/18 – Little Pembie has found her new home!
Pembie is an adorable 7 year old Shih Tzu girl, formerly used for breeding. But she has got a new lease on life after being rescued by Friends of the Animals and living in a foster home. She has taken to home living very quickly and has come a long way in a short time. She is also letting her sweet personality shine through!
Pembie has discovered the power of the treat when learning new things; treats are a real motivation to this little girl. She is intelligent and quick to learn. She also loves toys and has become an active and serious toy collector.
Pembie can be a little nervous upon meeting new people, but that will improve the more she is exposed to kind humans she can trust. She hasn’t met any smaller humans yet and would probably be better in a home with older sensible children.
Pembie loves other dogs and enjoys their company very much. In fact, due to her background, she really needs to have another dog around to help her gain confidence.
Once Pembie is settled in a home, she is a bit like a bull in a china shop, especially when there is a plate of food heading in her direction. She can be left in the company of other dogs for short periods.
Pembie is an active collector and she stores her collections on her beds. She loves her toys and has transported them to her two ‘nests’. She shows no agression or resource guarding, however. She is happy to have a cuddle once she gets to know you.
Although Pembie is unused to going for walks as of now, her lead training is going well. She is an energetic girl who likes to walk and keep active, when she is not sleeping, that is.
Pembie would do great with a single lady who can keep up with her, but as she gets used to her life as a companion dog, she could even fit with a family or couple. It would be better if her new owner(s) could be home most of the day, at least at first.
Whoever Pembie’s forever owners turn out to be, they will be blessed with a very loving faithful companion.
