15/4/2022 Beautiful Tula has found a wonderful new home. Her new owners say ‘we are now very proud and happy human parents to our new fur baby, Tula, who loves her walks, toys and rolling in the grass.’

Tula is a beautiful 8-year-old German Shepherd X who is with Chilterns Dog Rescue Society near Tring, Hertfordshire.

Tula shared a quiet home with an older couple for most of her life. Sadly one owner passed away and the other is terminally ill in hospital. With no other family members able to offer Tula home, she is now safe in the care of CDRS.

Tula is a gentle, sensitive dog with a sweet temperament. She has led a very sheltered life, so the sudden move to rescue has been unsettling for her. However she has enjoyed a bath and a groom and is steadily making new friends. She is very sociable with the people she knows well (including a visiting grandchild now 7), but is understandably a bit shy with unfamiliar people at first and just takes a little time, and a short walk, to relax completely.

Until now, Tula’s life has revolved around the house and garden; she has not had opportunities to meet and mix with other dogs. As her world opens up she is enjoying getting out and about and spending time in the company of other dogs at the centre several times a day. It is a pleasure to see her getting fitter and gaining confidence with every day that passes.

Tula is used to sleeping on her dog bed on the lounge floor and has occasionally been left for extended periods of time, although this wasn’t the norm. She is anxious in the car due to her lack of experience but could certainly get more comfortable with travel with practice and patience. She attended dog training classes as a puppy and is well behaved. She is now excited to go out and can be a bit strong on the lead at first, although this is showing improvement. Tula will chase cats if given the chance, so her new home will need to be cat-free or very carefully managed.

Due to the circumstances of her arrival, there is little additional information about Tula’s medical history. She is inoculated and microchipped. Apart from a couple of fatty lumps on her hip and side and a callus on her elbow, which have been vet checked and are not of concern, she is in good health and getting fitter and more mobile every day. It is unclear whether she has been neutered already but further veterinary advice will be taken on the best course of action to cover this situation.

Could you offer this beautiful girl a wonderful new home?
