5/5/12 – Poor Blackie developed health problems and had to be pts :(
————————————————-

Poor Blackie has been in rescue for a long time and hasn’t had any interest at all. She lost her owner some time ago and it was a while before the body was found, so Blackie and her son, Squeak, were in the flat alone. Both cats were lucky enough to be taken in by Macclesfield RSPCA, but now, poor Squeak has sadly been put to sleep due to an aggressive type of cancer. Poor Blackie must miss him as they were very closely bonded.

Blackie was initially very timid and nervous and although she has improved greatly, the RSPCA would like her to go to a home with someone who has experience with rescued cats and will give her plenty of time to settle in. In her previous home she didn’t have access to the outdoors so she would appreciate somewhere with a garden so she can enjoy some time exploring.

At fourteen years of age, Blackie might be an older lady but this isn’t evident at all. She has a very mild manner, a wonderful temperament and has never bitten or scratched anyone. She has a beautiful shiny black coat which is in wonderful condition and lovely to touch. She is a little bit of a coward sometimes because whilst playing with her stuffed mouse she waits until its back is turned before she attacks it!!

It took several months before Blackie started to enjoy attention, but now she will come to you for some fuss and affection. She is much better at coping with visitors and no longer hides when her fosterer has company. She still has a good appetite too and will eat pretty much anything she is given.

Since arriving in care, Blackie became very lame on her back legs and various tests and x-rays were done. The vet diagnosed her with a neurological problem which is not treatable, but she has Metacam whenever she needs it and still gets around okay.

All Blackie asks for is a warm, cosy home without children or other pets. Do you think you could offer her that? If so, please contact RSPCA, Macclesfield as follows;
