7.9.2011 Such sad news that Ben was not very well yesterday and got worse today. His foster mum called out the vet and sweet Ben went to the bridge this afternoon.

Ben is simply a gorgeous, chocolate Labrador aged 13 years who needs to find a new, forever home as his owner passed away. He’s safely in the care of LRRSE and in a foster home in mid-Bedfordshire.
When Ben arrived in rescue, he didn’t appear to have much interest in anything which is understandable after his whole life had been turned upside down. Ben is a young dog in an older body – he tries to chase after tennis balls but is a bit slow. Ben is now capable of a 20 minute walk during the day and then a 10 -15 min walk in the evening. It takes him a little while to stop panting after exercise but he is a very large dog and he does have to put an awful lot of effort into his walks.
Ben’s tail is wagging all the time now and he is great with all the dogs in his foster home; they all seem to like him. Ben is also excellent with the children aged 10 & 12 – they have both walked him up the field and he was happy to go with them.
Ben’s hearing and sight appear to be good and he is gradually losing weight. He needs to lose another 8kg-10kg which will make him feel much better and help with his mobility. He has Metacam each morning and doesn’t appear in any pain.
Ben has so much love to give and is a real character….. he really is a giant, chocolate bear! Ben has his own facebook page here.
