27/12/12 – We just received this very sad update from Cats Protection about Poppy:
“Unfortunately I have some very sad news: last week Poppy, one of the two diabetic cats in our care, had to be put to sleep. An ultrasound revealed multiple tumours all over her intestines so we had to let her go to Rainbow Bridge. Our homing wing won’t be the same without her bright and cheeky presence and Poppy will be missed by staff, volunteers and visitors alike.”

Poppy is a very special girl and needs a very special owner.  At the moment she’s  being looked after by Cats Protection at their Adoption Centre in Sussex  but she’s been there quite a while and needs a home of her own.

Poppy is nearly ten years old and is a real cheeky character.    She is very chatty and friendly and  would make an entertaining addition to any family.    However, she is being passed over for adoption just because she’s diabetic.  She is currently on two injections of insulin  a day which she copes with very well and never notices the needle.  Training and advice will be given to a new owner on how to do this but it really isn’t at all difficult.     Poppy’s also on a strict diet so would need to be the only pet around unless food is very well managed as she really loves to eat.

If you are interested in adopting Poppy you will get loads of advice and support from the Centre so please think about it.  If you would like to chat with someone about Poppy’s needs, please contact Cats Protection as follows;
